WCW – DECEMBER 19, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the duo of “flying “ Brian Pillman and “ stunning” Steve Austin, the Hollywood Blonds. Austin and Pillman had their first match together as a tag team in October of 1992 but after that match Pillman went back to teaming with Barry Windham for the rest of 1992. After failing to capture the tag team gold at Starrcade 92 Windham and Pillman officially split as a team. Austin and Pillman began to wrestle regularly as a tag team as 1993 began. Within the next few weeks Austin and Pillman would don matching trunks and ring attire and began calling themselves the “ Hollywood Blonds”. The Blonds quickly found themselves chasing the WCW tag team titles in a feud against the champions Ricky “ the dragon” Steamboat and Shane Douglas. The Hollywood Blonds went on to capture their first and only WCW tag team title from Steamboat and Douglas in March of 1993. The Blonds moved onto begin a feud with the Horsemen, consisting of Ric Flair, Arn Anderson . Austin and Pillman began to antagonize the Horsemen when they created a spin off of Ric Flair’s “ Flair for the gold” interview segment, called “ a Flare for the old “. The Blonds dressed as Ric and Arn and mocked them in several hilarious segments. The Blonds retained their tag titles against Ric and Arn at a match during Clash of the Champions XXIII when Barry Windham interfered and attacked Flair. With Flair focusing his attention on Windham, Arn Anderson began teaming with the newest member of the Horsemen Paul Roma and continued to feud with the Blonds. The Blonds would cheat to gain wins and retain their titles over Arn and Paul Roma for the next few months. By mid summer 1993 Pillman had injured his ankle and was unable to wrestle to defend the tag titles. WCW allowed Steven Regal to step in as Steve Austin’s partner for a title match against Arn and Paul Roma, but even with Regal’s extensive wrestling skills the team ended up dropping the titles to The Horsemen. With the title loss the team of the Hollywood Blonds would go their separate ways for a few months. Austin and Pillman would briefly reunite for a few matches even confronting the team who won the tag title from the Horsemen, the Nasty Boys. But the Blonds eventually would spilt for good before anything would come from their confrontation with the Nasty Boys. Pillman and Austin teaming up as the Hollywood Blonds certainly helped elevate both their careers, even behind WCW. What was your favorite Hollywood Blonds match?
WCW – DECEMBER 12, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means ! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the Ugandan giant, Kamala ! Prior to making his WCW debut Kamala had wrestled in various promotions starting in the late 1970s through the 1980s including Mid South Wrestling, WCCW, AWA and the WWF . By the time Kamala made his way to WCW in 1995 his best years were behind him. Kamala was brought in as a member of Kevin Sullivan’s Dungeon Of Doom, a faction of mostly ex WWF wrestlers out to end Hulk Hogan’s career and Hulkamania. Kamala wrestled his first WCW pay per view match at Bash at the Beach ‘95 where he defeated “ hacksaw “ Jim Duggan. A few months later the Ugandan giant went on to face Hulk Hogan in the main event of the WCW television special event Clash of the Champions In September of 1995 Kamala would join fellow members of the Dungeon of Doom, the Zodiac, Meng, and the Shark to face Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Sting and and Lex Luger at WCW’s Fall Brawl pay per view. This would be one of Kamala’s final appearances in WCW, the Ugandan giant was set to face Randy “ macho man “ Savage at the Halloween Havoc pay per view in October but allegedly walked out on the company rather than lose to the “ macho man” in the match. Even though Kamala’s time was short in the WCW he was a great addition to the Dungeon of Doom for sure. What is your favorite Kamala match in WCW ?
WCW – NOVEMBER 28, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is from Amarillo Texas, they are the team of Chris and Mark Youngblood the Renegade Warriors! There isn’t too much to write about the Renegade Warriors in WCW, as their time in the company was short and uneventful. However the team found much more success outside of the WCW. The Renegade Warriors began teaming in WCCW, or World Class Championship Wrestling in 1985. The Warriors would go on to compete in Puerto Rico and Japan through the late 1980s collecting tag titles along the way before debuting in WCW in 1990. The Renegade Warriors joined a crowded roster stacked with great tag teams like the Nasty Boys, the Horsemen, the Freebirds and the Midnight Express. The Renegade Warriors were popular with the fans but the Warriors failed to obtain tag team gold or really make an impact in WCW. Perhaps their most notable match took place at Clash of the Champions XIII in November of 1990 against the Nasty Boys. The teams fought until a disqualification was called due to the Steiner Brothers interference. By May of 1991 the Renegade Warriors were packing their bags and headed to the GWF or Global Wrestling Federation. What was your favorite Renegade Warriors match?
WCW – NOVEMBER 7, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week for my WCW I have selected Pamela Paulshock! Pamela began her WCW career in 1999 as an “NWO girl” , Pamela would accompany members of the New World Order to ringside only to be ordered to the back by NWO member Jeff Jarrett. Shortly after the NWO stint Pamela became a regular WCW backstage interviewer. Pamela would get more television time when she won the “ Miss WCW “ bikini contest in 2000 without being an official contestant. The judges , Howard Stern’s Wack Pack members, declared her the winner. Pamela then became part of several storylines including a mostly verbal feud with the Team Canada member Major Gunns. Pamela also stepped in the ring to wrestle in a mixed tag match with her partner Kanyon vs Buff and Judy Bagwell. In a very forgettable angle Pamela was romantically linked to legendary backstage interviewer Mean Gene Okerlund. The storyline included Pamela doing a run in on behalf of Okerlund during a match between WCW commentator Mark Madden and Mean Gene Okerlund By February of 2001 Pamela Paulshock along with almost all the other female talent would be released from their contracts just before the company was sold the following month. What was your favorite memory of Pamela Paulshock in WCW?
WCW – OCTOBER 31, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week, on this Halloween day, I had to select the Halloween Havoc pay-per-view for my WCW! Halloween Havoc made it’s spooktacular debut in October of 1989 in Philadelphia featuring Sting and Ric Flair vs The Great Muta and Terry Funk in the main event. With the success of the debut show Halloween Havoc went on to become one of the premiere pay-per-view shows for WCW until 2000. A few of more memorable matches and moments from the shows were WCW champion Sting vs Sid Vicious in 1990, where we saw Barry Windham as a “ fake Sting “. 1992 the spin the wheel make the deal match with Sting facing Jake “ the snake “ Roberts in a coal miner’s glove match. Also in 1991 we had the Chamber of Horrors match were Abdullah the Butcher would be “electrocuted”. In 1995 we had Hulk Hogan vs the Giant in the ring and also in a monster truck challenge where the Giant fell off the roof of the arena. The WCW Yeti made his debut at Halloween Havoc ‘95 as well. In 1997 the main event featured “ Rowdy “ Roddy Piper vs Hollywood Hogan in a steel cage match, this was about 10 years too late. The next 3 years would all feature Bill Goldberg in the main event against Diamond Dallas Page in 1998, then Sting in 1999 and on the final Halloween Havoc in 2000 Goldberg took on the tag team of Kronik in a 2 on 1 handicap match. While some people may think Halloween Havoc is better off being a dead pay- per-view I wouldn’t mind seeing the WWE blowing the cobwebs off this show for even just one more time. What was your favorite Halloween Havoc match?
WCW – OCTOBER 24, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the rap master P .N. News! The 400 plus pound P.N.News made his debut in World Championship Wrestling in May of 1991. Shortly after his debut News began feuding with the WCW television champion Steve Austin. In one of the worst matches of the year, P.N.News and Bobby Eaton teamed to challenge Steve Austin and Terry Taylor in a scaffolding match at the Great American Bash 1991. The match was pretty terrible but it was P.N.News and Eaton who “ captured the flag “to win the match. After the Bash P.N. News’ feud with Austin all but came to a halt after News accidentally injured wrestler Dave Sheldon aka the Angel Of Death at a house show. News botched his finisher “ the broken record “ which is a splash off the top ropes and he landed on Shedon’s knees putting Sheldon out of action for almost a year. After the accident News was taken off television and placed on house shows only. By November of 1991 P.N. News was back on television and facing Steve Austin again at the Clash of the Champions for the television title. News wasn’t successful in capturing the title but secured a spot at the Starrcade pay per view in December. P.N.News teamed with Steve Armstrong in a losing effort again Ron Simmons and Thomas Rich at Starrcade In early 1992 News made one of his final television appearances at the Clash of the Champions show defeating Diamond Dallas Page. News would defeat Page at the show, the wing didn’t help his as P.N. became old news and went onto be released from WCW in March. What was your favorite match involving P.N. News in the WCW?
WCW – OCTOBER 10, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship! This week I have selected “ the chairman of WCW” La Parka! The year was 1996 when WCW began tapping into the wrestlers from the Mexican promotion known as AAA. The Mexican wrestlers or Luchadores if you will, were used almost exclusively for the cruiserweight division in WCW, which was more of a high flying, fast paced wrestling and a perfect fit for the Lucha Libre style of wrestling. La Parka became a stand out amongst the Luchadores because of his comedic style. La Parka would carry a chair to the ring, earning him the nickname the chairman of WCW , he would also play air guitar and dance before his matches. La Parka was a regular on WCW television with his most memorable moment occurring in a match against Randy “ macho man” Savage. During the match on WCW Monday Nitro, La Parka hit Savage with a “ diamond cutter” finisher for the pin. After the match La Parka unmasked and it was really Diamond Dallas Page under the La Parka mask. Yes, La Parka’s most memorable moment in WCW didn’t even really involve him As late 1998 rolled around La Parka along with many of the other Mexican wrestlers joined Eddie Guerrero’s group the Latino World Order or LWO. the LWO was a play on the successful wrestling faction the New World Order or NWO. The group disbanded after a few months due to Guerrero being sidelined with injuries in early 1999. By the time the calendar turned to 2000, WCW was under new management and the new creative team began having La Parka give interviews in Spanish and then would dub over his voice in English with comedic comments The angle never caught on and before the year was out La Parka would leave the WCW just months before the promotion would fold. What was your favorite La Parka match in WCW?
WCW – OCTOBER 3, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! Its time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected Horace Hogan. Horace made his debut in the WCW at Spring Stampede 1998 aiding in an attack on Diamond Dallas Page as a member of Raven’s flock. Horace remained as a member in “ the flock” until October of 1998 when Raven disbanded the group. With the demise of the flock Horace found himself joining another wrestling faction the New World Order aka the NWO, the Black and White faction led by his uncle world champion wrestler Hulk Hogan. The night Horace joined the group Hulk Hogan was in the midst of a feud with the Ultimate Warrior. Hulk took a chair to Horace and beat him unmercifully to show that if he would do this to family what would he do the the Warrior. Despite the beating Horace remained in the group and helped his uncle in the feud with the Warrior By early 1999 Horace was teaming with fellow NWO members Scott Norton, Vincent and Bryan Adams in attempts to capture tag team gold. The year was 1999 when the NWO dissolved and Horace Hogan found himself competing for the WCW hardcore championship over the following months By the time 2000 began Horace and Hulk Hogan joined forces again and started feuding with Billy Kidman who was part of the WCW New Blood youth movement led by Eric Bischoff and Vince Russo. As the Kidman feud concluded , Hulk Hogan was having creative differences with Vince Russo the head writer for WCW. In July of 2000 Hulk Hogan left the WCW after a confrontation with Russo and Horace quickly followed suit with his uncle. WCW would cease operations in March of 2001 What was your favorite Horace Hogan match in WCW?
WCW – SEPTEMBER 26, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the mysterious masked wrestler Black Blood! Dressed like a medieval executioner, donning a black hood and carrying an ax , the masked Black Blood appeared in WCW in the early 1990s. With his manager Kevin Sullivan leading the way Black Blood occupied the low to mid card level of WCW during his time in the company The gimmick was very forgettable, Black Blood had no memorable feuds or matches while in WCW. Black Blood was given the ax, so to speak, and released from WCW in July of 1991. The man under the mask of Black Blood had a much better run in the WWF in the late 1980s as Billy Jack Haynes So what was your favorite Billy Jack Haynes match?
WCW – SEPTEMBER 19, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected Vinnie Vegas for my WCW ! Before he was Diesel or Kevin Nash a founding member of the New World Order of wrestling he was the 6’ 10” tall big Vinnie Vegas ! Vinnie portrayed a gangster like character from “ sin city” Las Vegas Nevada as he made his debut in January of 1992. Vinnie became a member of the stable the “ half ton of holy hell” which consisted of Mr Hughes and Vader with Harley Race as their manager. By early 1992 Vegas joined a different stable of wrestlers called the “ Diamond Mine” lead by Diamond Dallas Page. This stable consisted of Scott Hall “ the Diamond Studd” and Scotty Flamingo who would later become “Raven”. Vegas and Page would then form a tag team known as the Vegas Connection until late 1992 when Page left the company. Vegas would go on to team with another huge wrestler called “ Big Sky” for the first half of 1993 until the Vinnie Vegas character that caught the attention of Shawn Michaels. Shawn pitched the idea of Vegas jumping to the WWF in the role of his bodyguard In June 1993 WCW’s Vinnie Vegas was no more, and the WWF had Vinnie Vegas as Shawn Michaels’ bodyguard, Diesel. Within his first year in the WWF Diesel would become the WWF champion and go on to be one of the most popular wrestlers of the 90s. What was your favorite Vinnie Vegas match in WCW?
WCW – SEPTEMBER 12, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is Cobra! Cobra made his WCW debut in the fall of 1995 appearing on the WCW worldwide show. Utilizing a cobra clutch slam, Cobra began picking up wins over the enhancement talents In the week’s that followed Cobra began feuding with Sgt. Craig Pittman who, in WCW storyline, abandoned Cobra in the desert during their time in the gulf war and then reported him AWOL Cobra joined WCW to seek revenge on Pittman Cobra and Pittman would exchange wins in their feud over the next few months Cobra would continue to wrestle in the low mid card for the early part of 1996 before the character of Cobra would disappear from WCW, but the wrestler behind the Cobra character, Jeff Farmer , would resurface in late 1996 as the evil NWO Sting What was your favorite Cobra match ?
WCW – SEPTEMBER 5, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship! This week I have selected the exciting Blitzkrieg! The man from the Cosmos , Blitzkrieg, made his WCW debut in July of 1998 in a tag team dark match with Super Dragon. Blitzkrieg’s televised debut wouldn’t happen until early 1999 when he would face Rey Mysterious junior Blitzkrieg began to compete primarily in the cruiserweight division with perhaps his biggest match in WCW taking place at Spring Stampede in 1999 . The Spring Stampede match was to determine the number 1 contender for the cruiserweight championship. Sadly Blitzkrieg lost to Juvetud Guerrera on the pay per view, but in true WCW fashion the stipulation meant nothing and Blitzkrieg went on to compete in the four way match along with Juvetud and Psicossis against cruiserweight champion Rey Mysterio. ( Psicossis went on to capture the title in the four way match). Over the next few months Blitzkrieg competed against Mysterio for the cruiserweight title but wasn’t able to wrestle the gold away from the champ. Blitzkrieg’s final WCW performances took place in the fall of 1999 on Monday Nitro in September against Evan Karagias and then in October on Thursday’s Thunder show teaming with Kaz Hayashi in a losing effort against Juvetud Guerrero and Silver King Blitzkrieg’s time in WCW was short but he brought a lot of excitement to the cruiserweight division. What was your favorite Blitzkrieg match?
WCW – AUGUST 15, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected Hardcore Hak as my WCW. Hardcore Hak made a name for himself as the hardcore wrestler the Sandman in Extreme Championship Wrestling before debuting in WCW in September of 1998. The no holds barred, no rules wrestling style Hak used in ECW was a perfect fit for WCW’s new “ hardcore” wrestling division. Hak’s debut match on Nitro featured him calling out and then losing to the WCW hardcore champion and also a former ECW alumni Bam Bam Bigelow. Hak continued to wrestle Bigelow and then went onto begin a feud with yet another ECW alumni Raven. As his time in WCW went on Hak would compete against Raven, Bigelow and Brian Knobs at several pay per views, over the next few months. At the Bash at the Beach pay per view Hak was involved in the first and last ever “ junkyard invitational” hardcore match. Fit Finlay ultimately won that junkyard invitational match. In September 1999, after just 1 year with the company, Hak was released from WCW due to cost cutting measures What was your favorite Hardcore Hak match in WCW?
WCW – AUGUST 1, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! Time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the tag team of the Colossal Kongs! Weighing in at a combined weight of just under 900 lbs. the team consisted of King Kong, later known as Krusher Kong and his partner Awesome Kong. The team entered WCW in 1993 with former world champion Harley Race as their manager. The Kong’s time in WCW was very short, with their most memorable match taking place at Clash Of The Champions XXIV where the Kongs lost to the team of Sting and Ric Flair in a match that lasted about 3 minutes. The Kongs went on to wrestle at the WCW Battle Bowl pay per view in late 1993. The Battle Bowl event had wrestlers names drawn at random to form a tag team for the night to face another random pairing of a team. The two winners of the matches went on to the main event battle royal or “ Battle Bowl” to determine a single winner During the pay per view the Kongs were chosen for opposing teams and would square off against each other. King Kong and Dustin Rhodes went on to defeat Awesome Kong and the Equalizer in their match. In December, King Kong went on to face the Shockmaster in a singles match at the Starrcade pay per view T’was the Shockmaster that defeated this King Kong. Sadly Starrcade was one of the last times the Kongs would wrestle for WCW, shortly thereafter they went back to the independent scene in Texas. What was your favorite Colossal Kongs match?
WCW – JULY 25, 2018
It’s Wednesday! You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the team of Shawn Stasiak and Chuck Palumbo otherwise known as the “ Perfect Event”! The year was 2000, the month was May, when in World Championship Wrestling former WWF star “ Mr Perfect” Curt Henning was engaged in a feud with Shawn Stasiak, while Chuck Palombo was in a feud with “ the total package “ Lex Luger. Stasiak “ stole” Curt Henning’s WWF gimmick and began calling himself “Perfect Shawn” , and about the same time Chuck Palumbo stole Lex Luger’s “ total package “ gimmick and renamed himself the “ the Main Event”. ( very exciting times in WCW I know ). Shortly there after Palumbo and Stasiak formed a team called “ The Perfect Event”! Shockingly this team would go on to capture the WCW tag team titles 3 times with the first title victory in June 2000 when they defeated KroniK “ the Perfect Event “ went on to join the faction of the Natural Born Thrillers in August, while members of the faction the Stasiak and Palumbo would capture the tag titles 2 more times before before splitting in January 2001. Palumbo began teaming with Sean O’Haire while Stasiak formed a team with Mark Jindrak. All 4 were members of the Natural Born Thrillers faction which also spilt about this time. The teams were only getting started when World Championship Wrestling was sold 2 months later. Chuck Palumbo went on to have a successful career in the WWE, while Shawn Stasiak faded away. What was your favorite match from the tag team “ The Perfect Event”?
WCW – JULY 18, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the very dangerous Meng! After concluding a lengthy stay in the World Wrestling Federation, Meng appeared in the WCW in 1994, as the mysterious bodyguard for Colonel Rob Parker Meng’s bodyguard duties included interference during matches which then caught up to him at Superbrawl V when WCW commissioner Nick Bockwinkle decided to ban Meng from ringside. The following week Meng became a full time wrestler with Colonel Parker as his manager Using the feared Tongan death grip as his finisher Meng would enter the tag team division and form a team with Kurosawa to begin a feud with Sting and Road Warrior Hawk. After the tag team ran its course the rivalry with Sting would continue to singles matches as Meng unsuccessfully challenged the Stinger for the United States title Later, Meng went on to become a member of the Dungeon of Doom, a group of wrestlers set out to end Hulk Hogan’s career. While in the stable of the Dungeon of Doom Meng formed a team with his former partner from his WWF days the Barbarian. This team was known as the faces of fear After the Dungeon of Doom was dismantled Meng would continue to wrestle in singles competition. Within a few months Meng began to establish a winning streak which led to a WCW Monday Nitro main event with another man who was on an undefeated streak, Bill Goldberg. Bill Goldberg went on to break Meng’s streak and Meng fell back into the lower to mid card matches In the spring of 1999 Meng was appointed the bodyguard of the WCW president Ric Flair. The bodyguard Meng would annihilate wrestlers on Flairs commands. After the bodyguard gimmick came to an end Meng was back in singles competition again. During his final months in WCW just before the company would be sold, Meng would capture the WCW hardcore title, he would be the last hardcore champion in WCW. Meng legitimately was one of the toughest and most feared men to step foot in a wrestling ring. What was your favorite Meng match from WCW?
WCW – JULY 11, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected as my WCW the beautiful and mentally deranged “scream queen” Daffney! The gothic dressed Daffney made her WCW debut in December of 1999 as the girlfriend of David Flair and valet of Flair’s partner Crowbar. Daffney would accompany Flair and Crowbar to the ring and became known for randomly screaming throughout the matches. The shrieks and deranged behavior at ringside earned her the nickname “ scream queen”. In May of 2000 Crowbar and Daffney would defeat WCW cruiserweight champion Chris Candido and Tammy Snytch in a mixed tag match to be declared co-champions. The following week Crowbar would face Daffney to determine the undisputed cruiserweight champion. Candido would interfere in the match allowing Daffney to claim victory and become the 2nd woman to hold the WCW cruiserweight title. Daffney held the title for about a month before losing the belt in a triple threat match to Lieutenant Loco It was about this time the relationship between Flair and Daffney soured when Flair was romantically linked to Miss Hancock This would lead to a series of “ matches “ between Miss Hancock and the ” scream queen “ . Daffney would go on to defeat Miss Hancock in the first ever WCW wedding gown match at Bash at the Beach 2000. After the feud with Flair and Miss Hancock Daffney continued to be the valet for Crowbar until her departure from the company in 2001, just one month before WCW was sold What was your favorite memory of Daffney in WCW?
WCW – JULY 4 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means , it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the Great American Bash as my WCW! The Great American Bash was created by Dusty Rhodes as an annual summertime pay per view . The bash originally took place under the banner of the National Wrestling Association in Jim Crockett Promotions which later would become World Championship Wrestling. The inaugural event took place on July 6th 1985 In Charolette North Carolina The main event featured champion Ric Flair vs Nikita Koloff The next year the Bash would have a multi city tour featuring a main event of champion Ric Flair defending his title against “ the American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. Perhaps the most memorable Bash happened in 1987 with two wrestling rings covered by two cages featuring teams of wrestlers competing to win the “ war games, the match beyond” The Great American Bash would continue to be a regular WCW pay per view up until 2000. In 2001 the company was purchased by the WWE and the Great American Bash would not be an annual wrestling event again until WWE revived the name in 2004 until 2009. The early years of the Great American Bash certainly provided some of the best wrestling matches of the 1980s. What was your favorite match or memory of the Great American Bash?
WCW – JUNE 27, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the exciting tag team of the Lightning Express! Tim Horner and Brad Armstrong formed this team in the Jim Crockett Promotions under the National Wrestling Alliance banner in 1984 The Lightning Express would capture the National Tag Team titles during their time in JCP. The team eventually split up and went their separate ways before reuniting in JCP in 1986. It wasn’t too long until the team would jump to the UWF or Universal Wrestling Federation and win the tag team titles from the team of Rick Steiner and Sting. It was in 1987 when Jim Crockett bought the UWF and merged the UWF WITH Jim Crockett Promotions. The Lightning Express brought the tag titles with then and then lost the UWF titles to the Sheepherders in October of that year. The Lightning Express would bolt from the promotion in 1988 and then return to the organization in 1990 which was now known as WCW or World Championship Wrestling. The Express defeated Arn Anderson and Barry Windham by DQ in their first match back The Lightning Express started off hot upon their return as they went on to defeat the US tag champions the Midnight Express by DQ in their second match. Then the Lightning Express suffered a loss to the debuting Master Blasters in September of 1990 at the clash of the champions and failed to regain their momentum after that loss Armstrong left the team to wrestle in singles matches as the “ candy man” and Horner formed a short lived team with Mike Rotundo. In January of 1991 the Lightning Express reformed and fought the Fabulous Freebirds to a double DQ. It was March of 1991 when the Express would wrestle their last match in WCW for the next 4 years. The team reunited in February of 1995 for a series of WCW Saturday night tapings losing to the Blue Bloods and later Harlem Heat. In April of 1995 the Lightning Express would wrestle their final match in the WCW losing to Ric Flair and Arn Anderson The Lighting Express certainly were an electrifying team back in the mid to late 1980s. What was your favorite Lightning Express match?
WCW – JUNE 21, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the late Great Big Van Vader The year was 1990 when the monster from the Rocky Mountains known then as Big Van Vader made his in ring debut for WCW. Vader only appeared sporadically in the WCW in 1990 defeating Tom Zenk in his debut match in July, and then returning to face Stan Hansen in early 1991 at the Wrestle War pay per view. At this point in his career Big Van Vader was spending more time wrestling in Japan, as WCW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling had a working relationship. Vader disappeared again from WCW only to return in October of 1991 at the Chambers of Horror cage match. By 1992 Vader began wrestling more of a full time schedule for the WCW and began making a serious run for the world title with former world champion and wrestling legend Harley Race as his manager. Vader would feud with the “Russian Nightmare” Nikita Koloff and then Sting In July Vader would defeat Sting for the WCW world championship Vader would only hold the title for a few weeks before Ron Simmons would upset him for the championship. After taking some time off to heal injuries Vader returned and again started a feud with Koloff and Sting before regaining the championship from Ron Simmons. Throughout 1993 began Vader was still feuding with Sting as well as Davey Boy Smith and Dustin Rhodes. In April of 1994 Vader and Cactus Jack engaged in a feud which included a very bloody match with Cactus Jack on the WCW Saturday Night show. Jack and Vader would continue to have some of the most memorable and physical matches in the history of WCW Including another brutal and bloody match in Germany where Cactus Jack would lose most of his ear in the ring . In between the matches with Cactus, Vader began teaming with Sid Vicious for a series of tag team events against Davey Boy Smith and Sting Late in 1994 and early 95 Vader and Ric Flair would begin wrestling for the world championship. As the feud with Flair settled down Vader went on to face the Boss, and then Jim Duggan for another series of matches. Not far into 1995 Vader found himself back in the world title picture against champion Hulk Hogan. Hogan vs Vader would main event the next few pay per views including a strap match at WCW Uncensored. In August of 95 Vader was becoming more of a fan favorite as he squared off in a 2 on 1 match against Ric Flair and Arn Anderson at the Clash of the Champions. Vader’s face turn continued as Hulk Hogan asked for Vader to join his team for the War Games match against the Dungeon of Doom. Vader wouldn’t make it to the War Games an incident back stage between Paul Orndorf and he resulted in Vader being released from the company. There is no question Big Van Vader, or Vader had an incredible run in the WCW, what was your favorite Vader match in WCW?
WCW – JUNE 14, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship This week I have selected one of the the world’s strongest men, Bill Kazmaier. Bill made a name for himself as a power lifter, and a world champion strong man before he entered professional wrestling. After spending a few years in the smaller wrestling promotions Bill made his WCW debut in 1990. Shortly after his arrival Bill would challenge the WCW champion Lex Luger in several matches but fail to capture the title. Bill would then go on to team with Rick Steiner and compete in a tag team championship tournament. Steiner and Kazmaier did not capture the titles and lost in the finals of the tag tournament to the Enforcers. At Halloween Havoc 1991 Bill Kazmaier defeated the near 7 foot tall Oz by submission Rounded out his time in WCW Kazmaier would appear at the WCW Starrcade 1991 Battle Bowl the Lethal Lottery Bill was paired with Jushin Thunder Liger as they defeated the team of Mike Graham and Diamond Dallas Page to advance to the “ battle bowl “ battle royal in the main event of the show. Kazmaier was eliminated in battle royal and Sting would ultimately be the last man standing. What was your favorite Bill Kazmaier match in the WCW?
WCW – MAY 30, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected Jake “ the snake” Roberts, who turns 63 years old today. The Snake slithered into WCW in August of 1992 when he came through the crowd at a television taping and attacked Sting Jake left Sting laying in the ring that night after hitting the Stinger with his finishing maneuver the DDT. Jake would quickly form an alliance with Cactus Jack and the Barbarian and his feud with Sting was off and running. Jake and Sting would exchange victories as the feud went on towards the WCW pay per view Halloween Havoc. Jake and Sting agreed to face each other in a “ spin the wheel make the deal “ match. The wheel contained an assortment of matches from a steel cage to first blood and many more In between. When the wheel stopped spinning the “coal miners glove “ match was the match the wheel had chosen. The glove was suspend on a pole in a corner of the ring the first wrestler to climb the pole could use the glove as a weapon. The match itself was very forgettable and Sting would go on to defeat Jake The moments after the match concluded proved to be a bit more exciting Jake released a king cobra snake from a bag Cactus Jack had brought to ringside in hopes of having it attack Sting, but the Stinger attacked Jake causing Jake’s own cobra to bite him in the face instead This would be the last time WCW would allow Jake to bring any snakes to ringside. In the short months that followed WCW would not even have a two legged snake in the ring, as Jake was released from the company once wrestling promoter Bill Watts gained power in the WCW. What was your favorite memory of Jake “ the snake “ Roberts in the WCW?
WCW – MAY 16, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! My WCW this week is the man from the stars, the Zodiac! After hanging up his barber shears in the WWF Brutus Beefcake resurfaced in World Championship Wrestling as an ally to Hulk Hogan, he was referred to as Brother Bruti. That was just the first of about a dozen different names and gimmicks he would hold in WCW Next we have The Butcher, the Man with No Name and then the Zodiac. The Zodiac looked like a zebra from the Serengeti with his white face paint with black stripes and matching colors on his tights. The Zodiac was now a card carrying member of a faction of wrestlers determined to destroy Hulk Hogan and end Hulkamania, called the Dungeon of Doom. Zodiac was squashed in his matches against Hogan and when he wasn’t part of the matches he would be outside causing interference or doing run ins Zodiac along with his partners in the Dungeon have the dubious honor of being voted the worst feud of the year in 1995 by the Wrestling Observer for their feud with Hogan While the gimmick of the Zodiac didn’t last too long it certainly is memorable for how bad it was. What was your favorite Zodiac match ?
WCW – MAY 9, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling In honor of Mother’s Day this Sunday I have selected Buff Bagwell’s mother Judy Bagwell as my WCW ! It was in the final years of WCW when Judy Bagwell began to make regular appearances in WCW Judy became part of several angles with her son Buff Bagwell during her time in WCW. One such angle featuring Judy was in a feud between Buff and Kanyon which culminated with Judy being suspended on “a pole” ( more like a forklift ) above the ring. Thank goodness Buff won the match and was reunited with his mother, I don’t even want to think what WCW would have planned if Kanyon would have “won” Judy. Mrs. Bagwell also has the honor of being the only female to hold the WCW tag team championship. This came about when Rick Steiner was teaming with Buff Bagwell in a match where Buff turned on him leaving one 1/2 of the tag team championship vacant WCW officials allowed Steiner to choose a new partner. At first the partner was Kenny Chaos, which was bad enough, but Kenny suffered an injury so then Judy Bagwell was selected, with no wrestling experience at all she will forever be recognized as a former WCW tag team champion with Rick Steiner. Judy Bagwell will likely go down as one of the absolute worst champions in the history of wrestling, it’s hard to say she’s the worst tag team champion ever, Nicholas may have her beat What was your favorite memory of Judy Bagwell ?
WCW – MAY 4, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is Buzzkill! If you don’t remember him you’re lucky. Buzzkill was Brad Armstrong, brother of Brian Armstrong aka “Road Dogg” Jesse James in the WWE. The Buzzkill character was a creation from Vince Russo and was basically WCW’s version of the Road Dogg from the WWE. Buzzkill was a peace loving hippie-like character adorn in the dye clothing, his entrance music was similar to that of the very popular New Age Outlaws in WWE and the fans of WCW couldn’t help but see Buzzkill as nothing more than a poor attempt to ripoff of the popular Road Dogg character. Buzzkill was sidelined with an injury in March of 2000 and with that Buzzkill was gone. There wasn’t very many, but was your favorite Buzzkill match?
WCW – APRIL 25, 2018
Hey It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW, not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is the lovely Asya. The bodybuilder powerhouse Asya debuted in 1999 in WCW during the ” Monday Night Wars “, her first appearance on television was as Ric Flair’s “ head nurse” , later known as “ Double D” ,she would accompany Ric to the ring for his matches and cause distractions at ringside. The head nurse character didn’t last long and the former Double D joined the team called the Revolution As a member of The Revolution she was known as “Asya” because she was “ bigger than China “. The name Asya was nothing more than a jab at WWE’s women’s wrestler Chyna., while Asia maybe “bigger” than China geographically as far as talent and in ring ability Asya couldn’t compare to Chyna at all. In late 1999 Asya began competing in ring regularly in mixed tag matches and by early 2000 she was competing for the WCW cruiserweight title against the champion Medusa. After unsuccessful attempts to become the cruiserweight champion Asya would go on to aline herself with WCW’s Demon. Asya and the Demon would begin a feud with Vampiro but before it would conclude in August of 2000 Asya’s time in WCW had came to an end, after about 1 year with the company Asya retired from WCW and professional wrestling. During her short time as a professional wrestler what was your favorite Asya match?
WCW – APRIL 18, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have selected, a wrestler straight out of the tool box, it’s Crowbar! The year was 1999 when Crowbar made his debut in WCW, he was quickly paired up with his former tag team partner Ace Darling to reform the team the Extreme The partnership with Darling was brief and soon Crowbar would form a faction with David Flair and “ the scream queen” Daffney. It was in this trio of “ mentally insane” wrestlers where Crowbar would find the most success. First, David Flair and Crowbar would capture tag team gold , later Crowbar and Daffney would become coholders of the WCW cruiserweight title during a match against champion Chris Candido and Tammy Snytch where Daffney pinned Snytch and finally before his time in WCW concluded Crowbar would capture the WCW hardcore championship from Reno. In the final days of WCW Crowbar would feud with the original hardcore icon Terry Funk and eventually drop the title to Funk just a few months before WCW went out of business. Crowbar found a lot of success in the final years of WCW, what was your favorite Crowbar match?
WCW – APRIL 11, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the exciting tag team of Marcus Alexander Bagwell and Scotty Riggs the American Males! The year was 1995 Scotty Riggs was a new comer to WCW and was quickly placed in the tag team division where he was paired up with Marcus Bagwell to form the American Males Dressed in short shorts and leather vests with some catchy entrance music that repeated the team name over and over in the chorus the American Males began making waves in the tag team division. In what can be described as an upset, the Males earned a non title victory over the WCW champions Bunkhouse Buck and Dick Slater in the first episode of Monday Nitro. The American Males would continue their success in the tag team division and before the year ends the team scores another upset victory over now WCW tag team champions the Harlem Heat to win the titles. The title reign was short lived the American Males dropped the belts back to Harlem Heat one week later. As 1996 began the American Males couldn’t regain their momentum and were quickly becoming lost among a deep tag team division. In the final months of 1996 the team officially disbanded when Marcus Bagwell joined the NWO and turned on his partner. Marcus Bagwell would continue to win tag team championships with various partners in the coming years while Scotty Riggs slipped further down the mid card each week. What was your favorite American Males match?
WCW – APRIL 4, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means, it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship. This week I have selected Ranger Ross as my WCW. In 1989 Ranger Ross made his debut in Jim Crockett Promotions / World Championship Wrestling Possibly the highlight of Ross’s time in WCW happened shortly after his debut during a match against the Iron Sheik at Clash of the Champions when Ross made his entrance by rappelling from the top of the Superdome in New Orleans and then defeated the Iron Sheik by DQ. Ross would go on to have moderate success as a mid card wrestler in WCW in the singles and the tag team division appearing in many of the WCW pay per views and clash of the champion shows, but falling short of capturing any titles. Ranger Ross’s WCW career came to an end in early 1991 but that wasn’t the end of his time in the spotlight. In 1996 Ross was arrested for a bank robbery in Acworth Georgia where he made a getaway on a motorcycle which earned him the name “ the motorcycle bandit”. After his legal troubles were behind him Ross began wrestling in the independent circuit into the early 2000s. What was your favorite Ranger Ross match in WCW?
WCW – MARCH 28, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means, it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling This week I have selected the near 500 pound Avalanche! This natural disaster made his WCW debut in 1994 as a member of Kevin Sullivan’s Three Faces Of Fear. Avalanche along with the other members of Sullivan’s regime he would feud with Hulk Hogan, Sting and Randy Savage While the Avalanche was making an impact in WCW a potential lawsuit from the WWF/WWE was beginning to snowball, Avalanche had previously competed in WWF under the name Earthquake, WWF claimed the Avalanche character was too similar to the Earthquake character and with that the name Avalanche quickly melted away in WCW history. The Avalanche would go on to compete under several different names over the next few years to round out his time in WCW. What was your favorite Avalanche match in WCW?
WCW – MARCH 22, 2018 *submitted a day late due to Nor’easter*
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW., or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the tag team of the Master Blasters. Making their debut in WCW in late 1990 the original team consisted of Iron ( Cory Pendarvis) and the 7 foot giant Steel ( Kevin Nash) . Iron left the tag team and WCW after one match and was replaced by Master Blaster Blade( Al Green). The Master Blasters began making a name for themselves in the tag team division for the first month or two until the team challenged the US tag team champions the Steiner Brothers. The Steiners handily defeated the Master Blasters and with that defeat the Master Blasters never regained their momentum. The team completely disbanded a few months later While Blade would quietly disappear into wrestling history Steel, Kevin Nash, would go on to have a long wrestling career. What was your favorite Master Blaster match?
WCW – MARCH 14, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means! Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week just in time for St Patrick’s Day ☘️ I have the Irishman, “ the Belfast Bruiser” Dave Finlay!Finlay began his wrestling career back in 1974 as a 3rd generation wrestler. Finlay began making a name for himself wrestling in Ireland, Japan and throughout Europe for almost 20 years before debuting in the WCW in 1995. During the early months of his WCW career Finlay would feud with Lord Steven Regal and the Blue Bloods Once the feud with Regal died down Dave took a short hiatus before returning with a new clean shaven look and short blonde hair Dave Finlay was now known as Fit Finlay. Fit won the WCW Television Championship from Booker T on an episode of Nitro and eventually lost the title back to Booker. Later in his WCW career Fit adopted a more hardcore style of wrestling and would win WCW’s “junkyard invitational” match at the Bash at the Beach show earning himself a hardcore trophy. Finlay would go onto wrestle more brutal hardcore matches most notably against Brian Knobs and Norman Smiley until he left the company in November of 2000 What was your favorite Dave Finlay / Fit Finlay match?
WCW – MARCH 7, 2018
Hey! It’s Wednesday! You know what that means! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. For the first WCW of March I’m going in like a lion, or more like a “lion heart”, because my WCW this week is “ lion heart “ Chris Jericho! After spending the early part of his career in Canada, Japan and Mexico, Chris Jericho began competing in the Philadelphia based ECW in 1995-96. It was during his time in ECW that the powers that be in WCW noticed Jericho and by late 1996 Jericho made his debut in the WCW “ the lion heart “ Chris Jericho quickly went on to capture the WCW cruiserweight championship using his finisher, a form of the Boston crab, he called the “lion tamer”. By the time he captured his 3rd cruiserweight title Jericho was becoming very popular as a heel wrestler with a comedic side. Jericho began calling his fans “Jericholics” and referred to WCW’s Monday Nitro as WCW Monday Jericho He also brought in Ralphus a senior citizen truck driver as his personal security guard to accompany him to the ring. Also during that time Jericho had some of the most entertaining promos in the history of WCW Nitro including his promo listing the 1,002 wrestling holds he knows to prove he’s a better wrestler than Dean Malenko, the man of 1,000 holds. Towards the end of his time in WCW Jericho continually called out Bill Goldberg in an attempt to start feud with him but in WCW the two never did wrestle. In July of 1999 “the lion heart “ would wrestle his last match in WCW and go on to have a career in the WWF/E that many would say made Chris Jericho the greatest of all time. What was your favorite match from “lion heart “ Chris Jericho in WCW ?
WCW – FEBRUARY 28, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have the team of Rip Morgan and Jack Victory the Royal Family. In 1989 the New Zealand native Rip Morgan began teaming with Jack Victory as the “New Zealand Militia “, after unsuccessful attempts to capture the NWA/ WCW Tag titles Victory and Morgan were given midget wrestler Lord Little Brook as their manager and changed their names to Ripper Morgan and Jack O’Victory and renamed “ the Royal Family”. The former New Zealanders were now embracing their country’s British heritage and claimed to be descendants of British royalty Even with the fancy robes the name change and the addition of Lord Little Brook the Royal Family failed to capture any tag team gold and in 1991 the Royal Family retreated back to the motherland. What was your favorite Royal Family match?
WCW – FEBRUARY 21, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week, in honor of president’s day, I have selected former WCW Vice President Jim Herd. Herd’s Vice Presidency began in late 1988 and ended in early 1992. During that time Herd brought to WCW such acts as the tag team of the Ding Dongs, Big Josh the lumberjack, and the Candy man. Also during his time as the VP Herd chased out the Road Warriors, Stan Hansen, Jim Cornette and Stan Lane from the Midnight Express and arguably the biggest star in WCW, he was their reigning world RIc Flair. Jim Herd wanted Flair to cut his hair, wear a diamond earring and change his attire to resemble a Roman gladiator and call himself Spartacus. As a result of Herd’s terrible ideas and the direction he was talking the company Flair quit the WCW and took the world title to the WWF until Herd’s final years in WCW concluded. Jim Herd’s time as VP of WCW only lasted a few short years but it certainly was a low point in the history of the company. What is your favorite memory of Jim Herd?
WCW – FEBRUARY 14, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means it’s time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wrestling. In honor of Valentine’s Day I have selected long time wrestling manager Gary Hart as my WCW. After spending the majority of his career in other wrestling territories, most notably WCCW and the Mid Atlantic area Gary Hart made his WCW debut in the late 1980s. Almost immediately Gary Hart would bring to WCW the Japanese sensation the Great Muta. Hart’s stable of wrestlers grew from there to include Dick Slater, Buzz Sawyer ,Terry Funk and the Dragon-master collectively known as the J-Tex Corporation. The most high profile match of Hart’s J- Rex Corp. involved member Terry Funk. Funk, with Hart in his corner, challenged Ric Flair to an I Quit match at Clash Of The Champions IX If you’re not familiar this match its worth checking out. In the early months of 1990 the J-Tex Corp disbanded and Hart would end up leaving the company. What was your favorite memory of Gary Hart in WCW ?
WCW – FEBRUARY 7, 2018
It’s Wednesday. You know what the means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have Robin Green! Back in 1989 during the tv tapings of the WCW Saturday night shows we started to see a “super fan” of Rick Steiner’s appearing in the crowd on a weekly basis. Rick Steiner became smitten with this super fan and eventually asked her out on a date. Missy Hyatt, the manager of Rick and Scott the Steiner brothers, gave Robin a makeover for the date while WCW commentator Jim Ross helped Rick prepare for the date. After Missy’s makeover Robin went from the shy nerdy fan girl to a super model Robin then began accompanying the Steiner brothers to the ring for their matches for a short period of time before she broke Rick’s heart by aligning herself with the Steiner Brothers main rival a tag team Doom, and changing her name to Woman What is your favorite memory of Robin Green?
WCW – JANUARY 31. 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means Time for this week’s World Championship Wrestling or WCW. This week I have selected the enforcer of the York Foundation, “the big cat” Mr Curtis Hughes. Standing at 6 foot 5, wrestling in a button down shirt, pressed slacks, suspenders and dark sunglasses Mr Hughes was an intimidating figure. In the early days of his WCW career you could find Mr Hughes outside the ring interfering in matches on behalf of the York Foundation members Once the York Foundation declared bankruptcy the WCW world champion Lex Luger acquired the services of Mr Hughes as his bodyguard. Hughes would also begin wrestling more frequently with Harley Race as his manager After the run with Luger concluded “the big cat” Hughes rounded out his time in WCW as a fan favorite teaming with the Junkyard Dog. What was your favorite Mr Hughes match?
WCW – JANUARY 24, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW! Not Woman Crush Wednesday it’s World Championship Wrestling This week I have selected a wrestler who In the ring, generally speaking, he does what whatever an arachnid can, pins an opponent, any size, stack up wins just like flap jacks, hey there goes the Arachnaman. For a brief period of time in the early 90s a strange masked wrestler swung into the WCW This masked wrestler was adorn in company’s colors of purple and gold and went by the name of “Arachnaman “ Shortly after his debut on television Marvel threatened WCW with a lawsuit claiming the wrestling arachnid too closely resembled their super hero arachnid and with that Arachnaman disappeared before we could find out his real identity What was your favorite Arachnaman match?
WCW – JANUARY 17, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling This week I have Big T as my WCW. Who is Big T you may ask? Well Big T is a former intercontinental champion in the WWE known then as Ahmed Johnson. In the later years of WCW he was known as Big T The name Big T was fitting because the former Ahmed Johnson had put on a large amount of weight since his time in the WWE. T made his WCW surprise debut at Souled Out 2000 as he interfered in a match on Stevie Ray’s behalf against Booker T. Big T and Stevie Ray would form the short lived tag team of Harlem Heat 2000 and continue to feud with Booker T until the Big T was released a few months the later What was your favorite Big T match?
WCW – JANUARY 11, 2018
It’s Mark’s WCW…..but on a Thursday. You know what that means, It’s WCW not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. Each week I remember some of the more forgettable wrestlers from the WCW This week it’s the “Demon” The Demon made his WCW debut on the Thursday night Thunder show when the band Kiss was featured. The Kiss segment was the lowest rated segment of Thunder up until that point Sadly It became obvious, this wrestler was like a poor cover band, and would never reach the same success of the real group. The face paint, the blood and the costume couldn’t help the Demon and he fell off the charts before WCW could assemble a “Demon’s army” . What was your favorite Demon Match?
WCW – JANUARY 3, 2018
Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is “the real innovator “ Louie Spicolli Louie had previously wrestled in WWE as Rad Radford and then found success in ECW as Louie Spicolli before appearing in WCW in 1997. Spicolli debuted in WCW as a member of the New World Order, or more specifically a lackey for Scott Hall of the NWO. Spicolli joined Hall in his feud with WCW commentary and wrestling legend Larry Zybysko Spicolli and Zybysko were working towards a match at SuperBrawl VIII in the spring of 1998 but sadly before the match and feud could reach a conclusion Louie suddenly passed away. Louie’s death was caused by a heart condition believed to be a result of his history of drug use. Louie will likely be remembered more for his time in ECW but he still made an impact in the short time he was in the WCW. What was your favorite Louie Spicolli match?
