WCW – DECEMBER 27, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW, not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. This week I have the Maestro as my WCW. The Maestro, along with his valet Symphony , made his WCW debut in the late 1990s the Maestro seemed poised to bring a symphony of destruction to WCW as he engaged in a feud with Evan Karagias over the cruiserweight Championship, however the title eluded the Maestro and he moved on to feud with the likes of Norman Smiley and David Flair But remained as a mid card wrestler at best. It wasn’t too long until the Maestro’s “swan song” came along and his time World Championship Wrestling came to a close. What was your favorite Maestro Match?

WCW – DECEMBER 20, 2017

It’s Wednesday. You know what that means It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have selected the exciting Tank Abbot. Tank rolled into the WCW in 1999 after a successful career as a mixed martial arts fighter WCW seemed to have high hopes for Tank upon his arrival but it seems his wrestling career was out of gas from day one. WCW was being horribly mismanaged and the former MMA fighter Tank Abbot was quickly lost in the shuffle and never lived up to his potential in World Championship Wrestling. Perhaps Tank’s most memorable time in WCW involved his love for the wrestling boy band 3 Count Tank was pushing to be a member of 3 Count but when he was rejected he quickly started a feud with the trio. The feud ended when Tank was released from WCW. What was your favorite Tank Abbot Match?

WCW – DECEMBER 13, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! You know what that means. Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is the exciting “heavy metal” Van Hammer! Van Hammer made his debut in World Championship Wrestling in 1991 where he defected Terrence Taylor at the Clash Of The Champions show. Hammer began an impressive 42-0 win streak before Cactus Jack handed him his first loss. Van Hammer would continue to gain victories over many of the WCW mid card wrestlers but never really broke out of the mid card status during his years at WCW. With his rockstar looks and his name being an obvious rip off of the rock band Van Halen I think WCW really should have considered bringing in Sammy Hagar or David Lee Roth to feud with Van Hammer at some point. I mean after all WCW had Jay Leno in the ring against Hulk Hogan. It’s not really that far fetched. Now a days Van Hammer is retired from the sport and likely sitting at home polishing his “most embarrassing wrestler” award from his debut year. What was your favorite Van Hammer match?

WCW – DECEMBER 8, 2017

*note: Intern Mark had this submitted on Wednesday, it was missed by us*

It’s Wednesday. You know that means, It’s time for this week’s WCW Not woman crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. This week I look back and remember WCW’s ” guardian angel”, Ray Traylor jr. If the Guardian Angel looks familiar perhaps it’s because he competed as Big Bubba Rogers in the NWA/WCW and then became the Big Boss Man in WWF. When he returned to WCW he was known as “the boss”, “the man”, and then ” the Guardian Angel”. When he wasn’t wrestling he was walking the streets of New York City in his red beret to keep the good citizens safe in the crime stricken neighborhoods of the big apple. The figurative halo of the Angel didn’t shine very bright and neither did his time in WCW, after dropping the Guardian Angel gimmick he began competing again under his real name. In 1998 his career flew to new heights as he headed back to the WWF to end his time in the ring on a very successful high note including a match against the Undertaker in a hell in a cell at Wrestlemania XV. What was your favorite Guardian Angel match?

WCW – NOVEMBER 22, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is an event, the granddaddy of them all, Starrcade! Starrcade was a Jim Crockett Promotions event first held on Thanksgiving night 1983 in Greensboro North Carolina The main event was a “Flair for the gold” featuring challenger Ric Flair vs the NWA heavyweight champion Harley Race. The event was such a huge success that Starrcade went on to become a Thanksgiving night tradition of Crockett Promotions, and then World Championship Wrestling. The annual Starrcade event would continue until 2000, as the WCW organization was sold in early 2001. What was your favorite Starrcade Match?

WCW – NOVEMBER 15, 2017

It’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I️ have former bodybuilder turned pro wrestler Max Muscle as my WCW. Max Muscle debuted in WCW as Big Bad John in late 1993 appearing on the many of the WCW secondary shows before being repacked in 1995 as Diamond Dallas Page’s bodyguard Max Muscle. Max would regularly accompany DDP to the ring and help Page cheat to win his matches In 1996 Max decided to split from Page and turned face. Max’s face run didn’t last long as he quickly joined Kevin Sullivan’s Dungeon of Doom and changed his name to “Maxx” While Maxx was a member of the Dungeon he would have several matches against Diamond Dallas Page , who was now wrestling as the face, Page would go on to defeated his former bodyguard in those matches. It wasn’t long after that Maxx disappeared from WCW forever What was your favorite Max Muscle match?

WCW – NOVEMBER 8, 2017

It’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week its a special birthday edition of my WCW The voice of WCW Tony Schiavone celebrated his 60th birthday yesterday! Tony started in the wrestling business back in 1983 with the Jim Crocket Promotions, which became part of the NWA or National Wrestling Alliance , and eventually renamed WCW or World Championship Wrestling. Tony’s voice can be heard calling many of the great matches of WCW. Who could forget Tony yelling “it’s Sting!” Or screaming about the “ye-tay” from the dungeon of doom or Tony telling us they are “desperately out of time”. Perhaps Tony’s most memorable moment was when he gave away the results of rival company the WWF’s main event match of the Rock vs Mankind for the WWF Championship is this match was prerecorded on WWF’s Monday night Raw show while WCW’s Nitro show was live. Tony’s announcement caused tens of thousands of WCW viewers to change the channel to see WWF’s main event When WCW ceased operations in 2001 Tony walked away from wrestling for almost 15 years. Just recently Tony returned to the sport with his own podcast “What Happened When” discussing the great days of the WCW through final years of WCW that Tony describes as. “casket roller skates “. What was your favorite Tony Schiavone moment ?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONY!!!

WCW – NOVEMBER 1, 2017

It’s Wednesday! You know that means. Time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wresting. This week my WCW is “Mean” Mark Callous “Mean” Mark maybe best known in the WCW as a team wrestler but he actually debuted as a singles wrestler in 1989 The singles run didn’t last long, because of Mark’s size he was chosen to replace the Injured Sid Vicious in a team called the Skyscrapers. With former referee now manager Theodore Long leading the way Mark Callous and Dan Spivey, collectively known as the Skyscrapers tore through the tag team division before engaging in a feud with The Road Warriors. When Spivey suddenly departed the promotion “ Mean” Mark made the transition back to singles wrestling with a quick unsuccessful attempt at taking the US Championship from Lex Luger. Mark soon departed the WCW and never looked back as he entered the WWF where he would become one of the biggest phenoms in wrestling, the Undertaker! What was your favorite “Mean” Mark Callous match?

WCW – OCTOBER 25, 2017

Hey is Wednesday! You know what that means It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This Wednesday my WCW is Chucky the notorious killer doll from the movie “ Child’s Play”. While Chucky was not a wrestler in WCW he did appear on a live episode of Monday Nitro as Rick Steiner was being interviewed by Mean Gene Okerlund Chucky insulted Mean Gene and then turned his attention towards Steiner. “Bring your raggedy rear end down here if you got something to say to me “ was one of Rick’s lines as he was angry that Chucky interrupted his interview You could hear the live crowd groan as Chucky then plugged his upcoming movie. The segment was only 3 minutes but it was about 3 minutes too long in my opinion. Thank goodness this was the last time Chucky would appear on WCW television but even Chucky couldn’t stop Rick Steiner from cutting promos in the future . What was your favorite Rick Steiner promo?

WCW – OCTOBER 18, 2017

It’s Wednesday. You know what that means. It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is the exciting tag team of Shanghai Pierce and Tex Slazenger Pierce ( the masked member of the team) and Slazenger made their WCW debut in October 1992 The team had very little success during their years in WCW and were used primarily as enhancement talents. Perhaps the most memorable moment for the team occurred when Shanghai Pierce was forced to unmask after losing a match to Johnny B Badd in early 1994. By mid 1994 Pierce found his way to the WWE as a pig farmer Henry O Godwinn, later to be joined by Slazenger renamed Phineas I Godwinn the team of the Godwinns would go on to become two time WWE tag team champions. What was your favorite Tex Slazenger and Shanghai Pierce tag team match?

WCW – OCTOBER 11, 2017

Hey it’s WCW You know what that means. It’s time for my WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is a badd man, it’s Johnny B Badd A former New York golden gloves boxing champion who resembled Little Richard, with a name that was a nod to Chuck Berry’s Johnny B Goode , Johnny B Badd was a perfect fit for the professional wrestling world. Johnny made his debut at Super brawl 1991 under the management of Teddy Long Johnny began his wrestling career with a mid card winning streak that landed him in WCW’s top 10 by mid 1991. It wasn’t until the badd man turned to a fan favorite in September of 1991 when his career started to take off. A device Johnny carried to the ring he named “the bad blaster ” became an exciting part of his entrance Johnny would use this blaster to cover ringside fans with confetti and glitter. The bad blaster gained popularity too as it was eventually used in storylines In the following years Johnny went on to wrestle for singles titles, he captured the WCW world television championship three times between 1994 and 1996 After a solid 5 years performing as a high mid card wrestler The Badd man left the WCW , in 1996 , due to creative disagreements. Following his departure Johnny had a successful run in the WWF, along his wife at the time, Sable. That career move certainly was not a ” badd ” choice. What was your favorite Johnny B Badd match?

WCW – OCTOBER 4, 2017

It’s Wednesday! You know what that means. Time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wrestling ! This week my WCW is the exciting Reno! Reno was a graduate of the WCW training center the Power Plant in 1999 and in October of that year he made his television debut in a match against Kid Romeo on the WCW worldwide show The following year Reno would be begin to appear on WCW’s more popular shows Nitro and Thunder where he became a member of the faction the Natural Born Thrillers While other members of the Natural Born Thrillers competed for the tag team titles, Reno took a gamble by competing in a tournament to crown the first WCW hardcore champion Reno made it to the finals The odds were against him winning but after a reversed decision he became the first WCW hardcore champion. Reno would hold the hardcore title for about a month before dropping it to Crowbar . Reno went on to feud with and team with Big Vito until the WCW was purchased by WWE in the spring of 2001. While Reno’s contract was purchased by the WWE a future with the company wasn’t in the cards as he was released while still in the developmental territory. What was your favorite Reno match?

WCW – SEPTEMBER 27, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! That means it’s time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wrestling This week my WCW is “hard body” Harrison The former army veteran , Harrison, enrolled at the WCW Power Plant training facility in 1995 and then went on to debut with WCW later that year. Hardbody was used almost exclusively as a jobber in the WCW and never really found much success as a wrestler. After WCW folded in 2001 Hardbody went on to find success when he won the 2001 Tough Man competition Sadly in 2007 Hardbody Harrison became “hard time” Harrison when he was convicted of sex trafficking , among other crimes and sentenced to life in prison. A very sad ending for a man who had such a bright future What was your favorite Hardbody Harrison match?

WCW – SEPTEMBER 20, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! That means it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected a tag team that was burning rubber through WCW’s Saturday night show the exciting “Pit Crew” ! In the late 1990s Chad Fortune and Dale Torborg debuted in WCW as a NASCAR inspired team called “Pit Crew”. The Crew competed in WCW’s Saturday night show almost exclusively and never could reach the finish line with the fans. Pit Crew’s gimmick may have won the checkered flag with motorsports fans but it stalled out completely with wrestling fans. It wasn’t long until Fortune and Torborg would split and move onto other gimmicks What was your favorite Pit Crew match?

WCW – SEPTEMBER 14, 2017

Hey ! It’s Thursday….. Time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have selected a horse of a different color if you will, this week my WCW is that famous stick horse Pepe. When Chavo Guerrero jr. was driven to the point of insanity by his uncle Eddie Guerrero and his cheating ways Chavo befriended a stick horse named Pepe Pepe the horse would accompany Chavo to the ring until that one fateful night Pepe was tossed in a wood chipper by Norman Smiley I guess a wood chipper was better than being send to the glue factory, or at that point competing in WCW During his time in World Champion Wrestling Pepe had at least one match, making him the winningest stick horse in the history of professional wrestling. What is your favorite Pepe match?

WCW – SEPTEMBER 8, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday, you know what that means , it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have a rad tag team direct from ” the city of sunshine” it’s the Dynamic Dudes! In 1989 Johnny Ace and Shane Douglas formed a tag team of skate board riding , dynamic surfer like dudes! With the Fat Boys “Wipe Out” song playing for their entrance music and legendary manager James E. Cornette it seemed like the Dudes were destined for greatness in the tag team division. However when Cornette dumped the dudes to manage another version of the Midnight Express the dynamic ones could no longer hang 10 and disbanded shortly thereafter The break up the Dynamic Dudes may have been for the best Shane Douglas went on to become the hardcore franchise wrestler for ECW while Johnny Ace found much success in Japan and eventually a high ranking office job for the WWE. What was your favorite Dynamic Dudes match?

*Please note: Mark did submit this on Wednesday, but Jim didn’t upload it until Friday*

WCW – AUGUST 30, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! Time for this week’s WCW, or World Championship Wrestling , I’m gonna tell ya a story about a place you don’t wanna be at, this ain’t no home sweet home it’s a home sweet misery they knew when they got there they’d try to put them away, but when we saw them walk down the street they ran the other way, I have to be talking about Badstreet. The Fabulous Freebirds teased about a 3rd member for a few weeks before Badstreet ( originally called Fantasia) debuted as a member of the Fabulous Freebirds along with Michael PS Hayes and Jimmy Garvin This masked wrestler joined the Freebirds long after their glory days in wrestling but found success with the birds becoming 1/3 of the WCW 6 man tag team champions, along with Hayes and Garvin Eventually the Department Of Transportation shut down Badstreet USA for repairs and the masked wrestler was never to be seen on WCW television again. Or was he? What is your favorite Badstreet match?

It’s Wednesday! Time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling if you will! This week we have the tag team of Tough Tom and Mean Mike who were better known in WCW as Disorderly Conduct ! In 1997 Disorderly Conduct charged into the tag team competition in WCW wrestling almost exclusively on the Saturday night show In what is likely the highlight of Disorderly Conduct’s career in WCW they lost to the Steiner brothers on an episode of Monday Night Nitro. Before too long it seems Disorderly Conduct was formerly charged with not being over with the fans and found guilty which lead to their dismissal from World Championship Wrestling What was your favorite Disorderly Conduct match?

WCW – AUGUST 17, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! So it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling. Since today is ” national tell a joke day” the joke would be on me this week if I didn’t choose Hugh Morrus as my WCW. The laughing man debuted in WCW in late 1995 as a member of Kevin Sullivan’s Dungeon of Doom and mostly performed on WCW’s Saturday night television shows. After the Dungeon of Doom disbanded Hugh had the dubious honor of being the first man Goldberg defeated on his way to his 179-0 winning streak. Even though Hugh’s time in WCW wasn’t as nearly as successful as Goldberg, Hugh was no laughing stock of the company either. With a finishing maneuver called ” no laughing matter ” Hugh Morrus went on to win the United States title on two occasions What is your favorite Hugh Morrus match?

WCW – AUGUST 10, 2017

Hey its Wednesday and it’s time for this week’s WCW , or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is the 400 plus pound Road Block. Back in the late 1990s Road Block made a stop in WCW. While the Road Block may have been large enough to stop traffic on the interstates he was basically run over during his time in WCW. The Block was mostly used as an enhancement talent to be squashed by main event wrestlers After his stop in WCW the Block went on to wrestle on the independent circuit until 2012 when the big Road Block hung up his boots and retired to the storage shed permanently What is your favorite Road Block match?

WCW – AUGUST 3, 2017

It’s WCW, not woman crush Wednesday , it’s World ChampIonship Wrestling. Each Wednesday we take a look at some of the worst gimmicks in the history of WCW. This week we have the masked wrestler “yellow dog”. When Brian Pillman lost a “loser leaves WCW ” match and in what some would call an act of animal cruelty a mysterious masked wrestler named “Yellow Dog” appeared in WCW This wrestler has the same physique, wrestling style and even the same ring music as Pillman. Fortunately WCW officials couldn’t prove it was Pillman who was under the mask, if it was proven to be Pillman he would have been banned from WCW for life! Which probably wouldn’t have been a bad thing for his career. After a few months the yellow dog was “put down ” and Brian Pillman returned to WCW. What is your favorite Yellow Dog match ?

*note, Mark did have this on his desk on Wednesday…the guys just missed it*

WCW – JULY 26, 2017

It’s WCW ! Not woman crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. Each Wednesday I look back at some of the worst gimmicks in the history of WCW. This week in honor of “shark week” we have a man called Shark Attack. John Tenta found success in the WWF as the ( Canadian ) Earthquake but his time in WCW was nothing short of a natural disaster. Shark Attack arrived in WCW along with many of Hulk Hogan’s former WWF rivals to form a coalition to end Hulkamania in a group called the dungeon of doom. While the Shark Attack certainly enjoyed a his share of feeding frenzies at the buffet he was about as harmless as a goldfish under the name of Shark Attack His time in WCW was anything but “fintastic” 🦈
What was your favorite Shark Attack match ?

WCW – JULY 19, 2017

It’s Wednesday and time for this week’s WCW! Not woman crush Wednesday it’s World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is the Z Man , Tom Zenk! Some may remember Tom from the WWF in 1987 when he and his tag team partner Rick Martel were chasing the tag team titles in 1987 Who would have thought the Z man would go on to find huge success in the WCW. After his debut in 1989 the Z man teamed with Brian Pilman and they went on to win the US tag team titles The Z man also became the first WCW television champion, he held the title under the NWA name when it was renamed WCW. What is perhaps the most prestigious title reign the Z man went on to win 1/3 of the 6 man tag team titles along with Dustin Rhodes and Big Josh. What is your favorite Z Man match?

WCW – JULY 12, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! It’s time for another WCW or World Championship Wrestling , not Woman Crush Wednesday. This week I have selected one of the “sweetest” wrestlers around “the candy man” Brad Armstrong According to longtime WCW commentator Tony Schiavone, the WCW president at the time Jim Herd wanted a “goddamn candy man” wrestler who would toss candy to the fans on his way to the ring. It seems poor Brad Armstrong drew the short straw that day and became known as “the candy man”. It’s hard to believe Brad didn’t find too much success even with his mullet and candy cane striped wrestling attire. One of the highlights of the candy man had to be his appearance on a wrestling episode of Family Feud It seems after WCW failed to acquire Augustus Gloop to manage Brad the gimmick quickly soured with the fans and the candy man title went back to Willy Wonka where it always belonged. In my opinion Brad Armstrong’s bad gimmicks throughout his career overshadowed what a talented wrestler he really was. What is your favorite “candy man ” match?

Hey! It’s Wednesday That means it’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling This week my WCW Is one half of that exciting WCW tag team the Patriots. Fire breaker Chip along with his partner Todd Champion, were part of WCW’s “special forces” in the early 90s. The team of the Patriots had feuds against tag teams like the Fabulous Freebirds and the Young Pistols. Fire breaker Chip found success when he and his partner won the WCW Unites States tag team titles In 1992 Fire breaker Chip got the call from Smokey Bear and ending up leaving WCW never to return. What was your favorite fire breaker Chip match?

It’s Wednesday it’s time for my WCW or World Championship Wrestling! This week it’s one of the forgotten greats, Ralphus! Ralphus was recruited to be Chris Jericho’s Personal Security possibly making him the original “Jericholic “. Jericho would point at unruly fans In the crowd and Ralphus would walk up to them and shake his finger to scold them Unfortunately Ralphus was laid off from his personal security duties when Jericho left WCW. What was your favorite Ralphus moment ?

Hey it’s Wednesday so it’s time for my WCW, or World Championship Wrestling. This week it’s that electric tag team High Voltage! The team consisted of Kenny Kaos and Robbie Rage straight from WCW’s Power Plant. High Voltage found some success on the WCW Saturday night show with their finishing maneuver the circuit breaker. The team seemed destined to be lighting up WCW’s main stage when they arrived on Monday Nitro sadly High Voltage didn’t see to have the same spark on Nitro and soon after arriving short circuited into obscurity. What is your favorite High Voltage match?

It’s Wednesday! It’s time for my weekly WCW or World Championship Wrestling. This week I have selected the artist formerly known as Prince Iaukea , but you may know him as Prince Iaukea The artist formerly known as Prince Iaukea must have decided to “let’s go crazy” and appeared in WCW 1999 as a villain after the fan favorite Prince Iaukea had moderate success in the low and mid card matches a few years prior Perhaps too much laughing in the purple rain caused The Artist formerly known as Prince Iaukea to become simply known as “the Artist” In what felt like only 7 hours and 15 days the Artist went on to become a cruiserweight champion in WCWs final years before being released from the company in 2000. What is your favorite Prince Iaukea, the artist formerly known as Prince Iaukea or The Artist’s favorite match ?

WCW – JUNE 7, 2017

It’s Wednesday! It’s time for this week’s WCW or World Championship Wrestling This week I have selected the lovely Leia Meow Leia is probably better known as Kimona, one of Raven’s valets in ECW but she did spend some time in WCW as Leia Meow During her time in WCW Miss Meow was manager of the Varisty club, and later the Jung dragons Occasionally Leia Meow would become physically involved in the matches Leia wasn’t afraid to execute a “purrrrfect” flying body press off the top rope either, presumably because cats always land on their feet By the time WCW was bought by WWE Leia Meow was sent back to the pound to hopefully find her “fur ever ” home What is your favorite memory of Leia Meow?

WCW – MAY 31, 2017

Hey its Wednesday! That means it’s time for my WCW or World Champion Wrestling. This week I have selected Mortis! Mortis looked like a cross between Skeletor and the shift manager from the seasonal Halloween store at your local mall more so than a wrestler Shockingly Mortis was fairly talented in the ring but it wasn’t until he unmasked and dropped the gimmick altogether that his career really took off. I’ll save that character for another WCW.

What was your favorite Mortis match or feud?

WCW – MAY 26, 2017

Hey it’s Wednesday! That means WCW time or World Championship Wrestling Each Wednesday I remember one of the most ridiculous gimmicks WCW ever produced. This week we have ” Mr Hole In One ” Barry Darsow Barry Darsow wrestled as many characters throughout his career. His most memorable were as Smash, 1/2 of the one of the longest reining WWF tag team champions Demolition also the Repo Man His time in WCW was much more forgettable especially as a wrestling golfer Id place that gimmick about 4 over par

It’s WCW (World Championship Wrestling ) Each Wednesday I’ll take look at some of the most ridiculous and forgettable WCW wrestlers. This week it’s “the Juicer” He was a blatant rip off of the movie character Beetlejuice he would spray silly string on his way to the ring and had clouds of dust that would float off of him when he wrestled. The dust clouds resembled the ones that would follow the Peanuts character Pig Pen. Speaking of dust thank goodness the Juicer’s WCW career bit the dust very quickly Go ahead and comment with your favorite Juicer match below

WCW – MAY 10, 2017

It’s WCW. Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling Each Wednesday I look back at the worst gimmicks of WCW. This week it’s the Renegade. This poor devil was brought in as a mystery partner for Hulk Hogan and was heavily teased to be the Ultimate Warrior , who up until this point was only on WWE programming , so WCW brings out a guy with the same build, similar ring attire, similar entrance music and face paint all resembling the Ultimate Warrior. Needless to say the fans were disappointed WCW pushed the Renegade anyway and he gained victories over Wrestling legends such as Paul Orndorf and Arn Anderson and even captured the TV title Shortly after dropping the TV title the Renegade began jobbing to other wrestlers before presumably returning to parts unknown.

WCW – MAY 3, 2017

Hey! It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for my WCW ! My World Championship Wrestling not Woman Crush Wednesday. This week I have selected “Jungle” Jim Steel. “Jungle” Jim wrestled in a tattered loin cloth and had a resemblance to Tarzan the ape man Surprisingly WCW didn’t sign Jane to the women’s division or have Boy wrestle as a cruiserweight. Jim’s time in WCW was mostly spent as a lower mid card wrestler with his biggest match taking place at Super brawl IV vs the Equalizer It wasn’t too long after that Jim grabbed a vine and swung back into the jungle before resurfacing in the early days of ECW What was your favorite “Jungle ” Jim Steel match?

WCW – APRIL 26, 2017

Its Wednesday and that means it’s time for my WCW, or World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is the nautical Captain Mike Rotunda ! For a short period of time back in 1989 Mike Rotunda became the seafaring “captain ” Mike Rotunda as he sailed the dangerous waters of World Championship Wrestling. While Rotunda is a great wrestler this gimmick was all wet from the start and it was cruising for disaster quickly In a short period of time the captain gimmick sank, in my opinion this wreckage is better off never being recovered

WCW – APRIL 19, 2017

Hey! It’s time for WCW. Not woman crush Wednesday, but World Championship Wrestling. This week my WCW is the Cole twins, Keith and Kent. The Cole twins debuted in WCW in the early 90s, aside from the mullet they both had a sight resemblance to Sting with the bleach blonde flat top haircuts and bright ring attire. The Cole twins reached mid card tag team status before disappearing from WCW television forever What was your favorite Cole twins match?

WCW – APRIL 12, 2017

It’s Wednesday and that means it’s time for my WCW! That’s World Championship Wrestling ! This week I have selected the bizarre one, Seven. Dustin Runnels returned to WCW in 1999 debuting as the mysterious Seven it seems the gold suits were pushed to the back of the closet to make room for the black suits and white makeup The gimmick of Seven couldn’t come anywhere close to the character of Goldust, Seven dropped the gimmick and cut a great promo on his career before returning to wrestling as Dustin Rhodes

WCW – APRIL 7, 2017

Sorry for the late posting this week. In the aftermath of WrestleMania, we’re all still recovering

It’s WCW! Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling! This week I have selected the 400 pound ” Norman the Lunatic” as my WCW. Norman was straight out of the mental asylum and managed by Teddy Long Teddy had possession of a key that was used to control Norman by threatening to have him locked back up Norman eventually was able to break free from Teddy’s icy grip and went on to become a fan favorite, “Norman the maniac”.

WCW – MARCH 29, 2017

It’s WCW! Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling Each week I find some of the worst of WCW This week I have selected the Booty Man with Kimberly Page ! He was formerly known as Brutus “the barber” Beefcake while in the WWF. In WCW he seemed to struggle with his identity the former Brutus Beefcake wrestled as the Zodiac, the Disciple, the butcher, the man with no name and the Booty man. It’s difficult to say which gimmick in his WCW career was the most ridiculous the Booty Man has to rank near the top.

WCW – MARCH 22, 2017

It’s WCW time! Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling! This week my WCW is from Argentina, he stood at 7 feet 7 inches tall, he is El Gigante While El Gigante was a giant of a man, his career in wrestling came up short. El Gigante never won any major titles and was more of an attraction than a wrestler. His feuds in WCW were very forgettable and his run in the WWF was even worse Nevertheless thank you for being my WCW this week El Gigante.

WCW – MARCH 15, 2017

It’s WCW! That’s World Championship Wrestling , not woman crush Wednesday. This week I have selected Berlyn! The former “wonder kid” Alex Wright reinvented himself by further embracing his German heritage with the name change and later would be joined by another wrestler named “the Wall”, when he resurfaced in WCW as Berlyn. Berlyn’s career in WCW began to crumble like the Berlin Wall almost immediately after his debut. A few months later the character of Berlyn would disappear from WCW television forever

WCW – MARCH 9, 2017 (yes, a day late)

I hope it’s not too late for my WCW! Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. Each week I find some of the worst gimmicks WCW had to offer. This week it’s a tie between Z Gangster and the Ultimate Solution both of these wrestlers were brought to WCW to join the Dungeon of Doom and the 4 Horsemen as they would attempt to end Hulk Hogan and Hulkamania forever. You may remember Z Gangster ( aka Zeus) and the Ultimate Solution had a past with Hulk Hogan as they both appeared in Hogan’s 1989 movie ” No Holds Barred ” . One thing the Gangster and the Solution’s wrestling careers had in common with the movie No Holds Barred, they were all terrible

WCW – MARCH 1, 2017

It’s Wednesday! That means it’s time for my WCW Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. Each week I remember the worst gimmicks WCW had to offer. This week I have selected Big Josh. Before joining WCW, Matt Bourne aka Big Josh spent some time in the WWF. Bourne was part of the very first Wrestle Mania losing to Ricky Steamboat in the opening match after he finish up at WWF Bourne became ” Big Josh ” a wrestling lumber jack who wore jeans and a flannel shirt, carried an axe handle with him and on a few occasions was accompanied to the ring by bears. Big Josh seemed to be popular with the kids and had success winning the US tag title with Ron Simmons and the six man tag title during his time in WCW Big Josh would later trade in his axe handles and flannel shirts for a green haired wig and grease paint when he returned to the WWF and wrestled as the evil Doink the clown

WCW – FEBRUARY 23, 2017

It’s WCW ! Not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. Each Wednesday I look back at some of the worst and most forgettable gimmicks of WCW. This week it’s one of the members of the York foundation ” the computerized man of the 1990s” Terrence Taylor Along with Alexandra York ( Terri Runnels ) Terrence would use a computer program to assist him in perfecting his in ring performance and predict how long it would take him to defeat any given opponent. The computerized man of the 1990s career in WCW crashed in 1992 and he was headed back to the WWF later that year. Fortunately for him, and the fans , he did not resume his old Red Rooster gimmick in the WWF

WCW – FEBRUARY 15, 2017

It’s WCW , not Woman Crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling Each week I find the worst of WCW. This Wednesday Its RoboCop. In 1990 WCW did a cross promotion for the release of the RoboCop 2 movie. This sounds like just a terrible idea that went from bad to worse. During a pay per view called Capital Combat RoboCop did a run in where he saves Sting from a beat down from Ric Flair and the 4 Horsemen. RoboCop and Sting formed a friendship and he would appear on WCW television shows and magazines. Sadly RoboCop was just the beginning of the WCW and Hollywood actors crossing over promotions. The RoboCop angle is considered by many to be the worst angle of all time in WCW

WCW – FEBRUARY 8, 2017

It’s WCW. Not woman crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling. Each week I find the worst gimmicks WCW ever created. This week I have “the fat chick thriller ” Mike Awesome. That’s right the former ECW ( Extreme Championship Wrestling ) champion Mike Awesome who unexpectedly appeared on WCW television a few months earlier while still under contract to ECW and was the ECW world champion at the time had fallen so far into WCW obscurity he was given the nickname “the fat chick thriller ” and accompanied to the ring by plus size women. The gimmick wouldn’t have been bad enough but Mike Awesome was a monster during his time in the ECW and in his WCW debut he was red hot when he took out Kevin Nash in a sneak attack Yet some how the powers that be in WCW thought he needed the gimmick of a “fat chick thriller”. After the demise of WCW the Mike Awesome i’d prefer to remember resurfaced for WWE’s “One Night Stand” pay per view in 2005 and had a brutal match against Masato Tanaka if you missed it that match is well worth watching. Sadly though, Michael “Mike Awesome” Alfonso passed away in February of 2007

WCW – FEBRUARY 1, 2017

It’s WCW. Not woman crush Wednesday its World Championship Wrestling This week I have selected “Oklahoma ” as one of the worst or most distasteful WCW gimmicks. This character was a shot at WWF commentator and head of talent relations Jim Ross He would accompany “Doctor Death ” Steve Williams to the ring for his matches, and would scream about barbecue sauce and the Oklahoma Sooners in Jim Ross’s southern accent while doing commentary for a match which was very funny. What wasn’t very funny was poking fun at Ross’s medical condition at the time. The Oklahoma character was a poor attempt for WCW to be entertaining in their final stages of existence
